Beaver Lake Community Club Meeting Notes: 05-06-24

  • Standing committees were announced: The Operating Manual Committee will be led by Robin Earl, and Naina Manji will lead the New Membership Committee.
  • A proposal for an updated beaverlakecc.org website was reviewed by Jon Carlson. A local web developer has been selected, and a sufficient budget was approved by the attendees.
  • Members were requested to send in photos for the Album on the new website.
  • A signup list was circulated to sign up for our Facebook and website committees.
  • The Beaver Lake LMD has found signs of a new invasive species: Sagitaria. They are currently conducting a survey to discover existing locations. Treatment options will be considered in the future. Dates of lily treatments will be 6/7 and 7/30 this season. A request was made to include information about these treatments on our website. A consideration to use sterilized carp as an alternative method of removing lilies was proposed.
  • A discussion to create a “soft path” around the lake for pedestrians was proposed. One member raised concerns about the potential costs of installing the path and existing traffic issues/pollution and proposed reinstating a dead-end of Beaver Lake Drive. Another concern was raised that if we created a sidewalk-like path, the result may be to restart discussions in city hall about opening our barricades to Trossachs.
  • A sign-up list was circulated to explore options for path and traffic calming measures on East Beaver Lake Drive.
  • The proposed 70th year celebration (2025) was discussed, including the updates of discussions with the city council, the Snoqualmie Tribe, the Chamber of Commerce, and city employees. Ideas surfaced about community/block parties with homeowner displays. Amplified music is okay at neighborhood homes, but apparently not in the park.
  • Someone suggested a campfire/solstice celebration in December as well, to celebrate the official anniversary date.
  • A short report about the year in review was offered.
