About The Club

Who We Are, and What We Do

The Beaver Lake Community Club was founded in 1955 as a way for neighbors in this small community to become acquainted and to foster a spirit of neighborliness and good will. Specific objectives are to promote the preservation of Beaver Lake, to develop leadership in community affairs, and to establish an awareness among its members of community needs and responsibilities.

Any person who owns property or lives in the Beaver Lake watershed is eligible for membership in the club as well as members of the Board. Any other person who lives in the area and shares the objectives of the Beaver Lake Community Club are welcome to become members as well.

We are led by a group of seven club members who volunteer their time to serve for a year as a Board of Director. We are best served by having many members of our club serve as Directors or Trustees over the years.

Our Legacy

Our organization has always been active in environmental and community causes. The BLCC was instrumental in lobbying to have power boats banned on Beaver Lake, and as a result our lake has been quiet and peaceful since the early 1980’s. In 1995 the BLCC was influential in having the Beaver Lake Management District created whereby the residents in the watershed area voted to create a special tax that contributes to lake water quality monitoring and testing to ensure that water quality standards are met.

Early activities included organizing the annual Beaver Lake Regatta. As our community has grown, we have sponsored other activities, such as the annual Holiday Party and Easter Egg Hunt. Also from 1993-2013, the BLCC was the organizer of the Beaver Lake Triathlon, a highly successful event that was held annually in August.

Today the BLCC is active on the political front to ensure that our little treasure and its unique character will be preserved. We are actively lobbying to preserve the rustic nature of Beaver Lake Dr. and keep this road safe for our children, hikers, and motorists.

Example Club Sponsored Activity

The club sponsors events throughout the year based on interest and volunteer support. In most cases, the board allocates financial support as necessary, and members are welcome to recommend and sponsor events that would be enjoyable for our community at large. We often use the Beaver Lake Park Lodge, though other venues are encouraged as well.

  • The club sponsors a Holiday Party at the Beaver Lake Lodge annually on a weeknight close to Christmas. All BLCC members are welcome. This has often included activities for kids, and music provided by members of the community.
  • We have also held an event in early May, around “Cinco de Mayo”, a fun event spring event for adults and their families that included food, drink and activities.
  • For many years we have enjoyed an Egg Hunt held Saturday morning of the Easter weekend at the Beaver Lake Park Pavilion. Based on interest of volunteers, this event may occur, and historically all Sammamish residents have been invited to participate.
  • Other possible events include music gatherings, litter pickup, and organized lake activities.
